It is quite amusing, Nagisa thinks. It is like watching drama on tv. He sits at his - messy, colorful, childish - desk at HQ, with a two-screens computer constantly sucking up energy which mostly serves to play Galaga or stalk his friends on away missions.
It is obligatory now, for S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, to wear a microphone and a camera at all times during missions, after the Superhuman Registration Act passed. Technically, it was about gifted people being monitored more closely and made to respect the states' laws - which Nagisa does not disapprove of since he lives in a small town that might get wiped out by some Inhuman's power, so of course he stood on the side of public safety. But anyway, this all made missions more interesting for him too. After HYDRA got wiped away - hopefully, for real - now it is all quite bland and boring, which is why he is slumped down on his seat, chewing on liquorice and with a bowl of candy in front of him. Maybe he will get up later for popcorn.

"Are you sure this is the right place?"
"Shut up, Nanase, I'm not stupid."
"Really?"
A pause.
"Seriously, Nanase, why the hell did they pair us up of all people?" Yamazaki's voice comes clear, and he is pissed.
"Haru-chan, you're testing his nerves..." Nagisa whispers, giggling.
"Dunno, ask Kou," Nanase replies with a blank tone, but Nagisa knows. He loves to piss Yamazaki off.
"Poor Sou-chan," the blond operator mutters with a smirk.
"I will. Damn, I'm never going out on a mission with you again if it was to save my life," Sousuke breathes out, clearly with his nerves poked on.

It has been going on like that for days now, since they were both assigned to an undercover mission on the other side of the world, in America, and everybody there sort of assumed they were together. They keep saying they hate each other, but they also walk closer than necessary, and now...
"Careful!" Haruka hisses, pulling Yamazaki aside. And then there is a bang. Nagisa sits up with anxiety and adrenaline suddenly pumping in his body, and he turns his microphone on to communicate with them.
"Nagisa, why didn't you warn us?" Haruka basically screams.
"I'm sorry! I was distracted," he whines, checking all the cameras in the city center building. "These guys' security is good," he continues, hoping his distraction did not get anybody hurt. "Is Sou-chan okay?"
"Stop calling me Sou-chan," Yamazaki protests, but he knows it is useless. Nagisa will call him that even with a gun pointed to his face.
"He's okay," Haruka replies, annoyed and still angry. "Try not to get us killed, Nagisa! You have one job, do it!"
"I'm sorry!" Nagisa repeats, feeling his heart thump in his chest. "Okay, so there's an office on your right, it leads to a corridor and then to a storage room, you can hide there and defend yourselves from behind the tables," he informs them, with his chest pounding. They are both his friends, if they had to get hurt because of him, he would never be over it.

Luckily, the operation turned out to be a success. But Haruka marches in with a really angry look, pointing at Nagisa the moment he walks in.
"They had guys with rifles right out of the door, are you kidding me? You can't not have seen them!" He begins, with his eyes flashing. They love each other, as friends, they really do, but Haruka feels the same as Nagisa does as parts of their team getting harmed or worse, killed, because of them, and Nagisa understands.
"I was... I was..." Nagisa tries not to reply that 'Sou-chan and Haru-chan were so cute while squabbling, but he comes up with nothing else.
"I don't wanna hear it! Next time pay attention, Nagisa."
"I will!"
"Okay, Nanase, that's enough, I'm fine," Sousuke butts in, a bit embarrassed but also surprised that Haruka actually cares.
"No, that's not it! It's just... Rin would cry a lot and I hate it when he cries," Haruka replies, frowning as he turns to the taller man.
"Hey, I wasn't paying attention either and we're supposed to be specialists, it's not all his fault," Sousuke tries to placate him, nodding at Nagisa.
"Indeed, you're an idiot, but I knew that," Haruka snarks back, throwing the other a glare.
Anyway, he seems to have calmed down. He breathes in and out a few times, and then his face goes back to its resting expression, before he turns around and walks to exit. Sousuke observed him lose his cool, and it was for him, and that is surprising. He is not used to Nanase caring about him.
"Hey, Nanase," he calls out to the raven haired boy who stops on the door and turns to look at him. "Thanks, you know, for saving my life," he continues, with a little blush, but also a crooked smile.
"... Sure," Haruka replies, after a few moments of embarrassment, and then rushes out to hide his own blush.
Nagisa looks on them, with his cheek leaning on the palm of his hand.
"So when are you two going to date?" He asks casually, looking down at his nails.
"What?!"
Nagisa throws a sly look up at Sousuke, and chuckles softly turning around. "Nevermind..." he replies, getting up and shuffling towards the snacks machine that they have been instructed not to use outside of coffee breaks. But he has never cared, and he is actually a very valuable asset, which is why he is still an agent even though he used to be out on the field before he got himself in trouble by playing the hero.
And Sousuke just stares at him with the most confused frown, and then looks down at the floor as he realizes - Hazuki listened to them all along. Damn, did they sound that flirty? All he remembers is Nanase telling him off and yelling at him - which is so not in his personality that he thought, 'wow, this guy really hates me'. But does he?
On the other hand, it would be pretty clichéd for something like that to happen for real.
Why is he even thinking about it? This is not high school, and supposedly they are all grown up, and as he looks at the blond mop belonging to the youngest agent who is now grabbing coffee, he thinks maybe they are all really children.
Anyway, he is not interested in Nanase. He looks good, he is handsome, talented, with surgical precision and despite his weird quirks he is actually a cool person to work along with.
"..."
He turns around as well, walking out with refusal written all over his face.
