"Rei-chan!" His voice sounds a little different from the bubbly chirps Rei left behind. Of course, during their third year in school Nagisa's voice had already changed from the one he had just a year before, but... Rei's eyes still go a bit wider at all the changes he didn't witness. Nagisa cut his hair, but that must have been a recent change - not one week passed without Nagisa sending Rei pictures of himself, messages, electronic postcards... anything that could be sent, Nagisa did.
Rei had a long time, months even, to prepare something to say, ideas for ways to catch up time as soon as they'd reunite, but now his brain froze; it's as if all its efforts are focused on just looking and taking in, like his eyes suddenly became barely able to take in the sunlight trapped within his boyfriend smiling at him before the impact happens. But when it does, Rei's body finally moves. His arms are like pulled by an invisible string, when they wrap around Nagisa's firm back, but the next problem arises when he becomes unable to let go. When Rei's body presses firmly against him, Nagisa's smile stretches to the inifnite.
And then he giggles. He sounds happy, just as happy as it feels.
"Hi, Nagisa," Rei says with his voice crackling. Nagisa told him it would be impossible for him to be together while being so far away from each other, but maybe the same went for Rei, himself, even though he retorted that they would be able to pull it off, to stay together while being apart. They did manage, but he never imagined that it would be so tricky, so harsh on his mind. That he would risk failing exams because he missed this land, this sea, this sky, this summer sun shining through the airport's windows, these buildings, these eyes so much.
"I missed you," Nagisa says. That's an understatement if he ever made one.
For Rei, the flight was nothing less than torture, as he spent all of it awake, extremely impatient as he looked and looked and tried to sense whether they were going to finally fly lower, and the wait seemed infinitely longer, even though with every second it only got shorter.
But he's here now. As he clings onto Nagisa as hard as physically possible and as he calls the other's name over and over again as if he'd almost died, he slowly smiles, knowing he's finally home.

But finally he does hear it. The plane is coming, Rei-chan is here.
He runs to the gate and pushes through to see him come
